COHOES LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
SMALL BUSINESS COVID 19 REOPENING GRANT

   (VIEW/PRINT PROGRAM INFO AND APPLICATION)

Purpose:

In response to the COVID-19 impact on local businesses, the Cohoes Local Development Corporation is offering a Small Business COVID 19 Reopening Grant in an amount not to exceed $5,000 to eligible independently owned and operated small businesses that were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic resulting from governmental orders to close or limit operations. The Cohoes Local Development Corporation’s goal is to provide critical support to restaurants, bars, retail and service-based businesses across our City that are in the process of re-opening in accordance with new governmental guidelines. The funding for this program will be provided by the Cohoes Local Development Corporation and will be administered by the Cohoes Local Development Corporation.


Proposal:

• Provide immediate assistance up to $5,000 to impacted eligible businesses.

•Target small restaurants, bars, retail and service-based business operating within physical structures located in the City of Cohoes.

•Allow flexible use of the funds for small business-critical operating, capital and health and safety needs.


ELIGIBLE SMALL BUSINESSES:

•Locally owned and independently operated business

•Must be physically located within the City of Cohoes

•Must have 25 or fewer Full Time Equivalent Employees

•Must affirm a loss of revenue due to COVID-19

•Must not have any outstanding fees, payments or taxes due to the City of Cohoes

•Must not have any existing City Code Violations

•Small Businesses must have been a viable business prior to the COVID-19 pandemic

Comprehensive Plan Development
Award $51,500
The City of Cohoes will revise its Comprehensive Plan to address both the needs of the community and evaluate how these needs fit into the strategic plan for the region. The Plan will foster regional collaboration, open doors to new funding opportunities, and is expected to increase the number of jobs.

Combined Sewer Overflow(CSO)Clean Water Project
Award $30,000 
The City of Cohoes will complete an engineering report to address combined sewer overflows at Vliet Blvd. This project is identified in the Albany Pool CSO Long Term Control Plan. 

Matton Shipyard Adaptive Reuse Project
Award $238,642 
The Erie Canalway Heritage Fund (ECHF)will develop a feasibility plan for the Matton Shipyard to develop a strategy for preservation and use of existing structures and waterfront, including one building used as ECHF headquarters; identify a flood protection strategy; and assess the feasibility of a multi-agency use of the site.
The Matton Shipyard, established in 1916, is located on Van Schaick Island in Cohoes, New York at the junction of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. Matton is a rare surviving example of an early 20th century civilian ship building and repair facility.

ALBANY COUNTY CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES GRANT RECIPIENTS
As tourism industry grows, grants will further
develop hospitality culture
ALBANY COUNTY CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU FOUNDATION 
Cohoes Local Development Corporation $5,000

Cohoes Visitors and Information Center Grant funds will be used to revitalize the Cohoes Visitors and Information Center to attract national and international visitors, to provide a venue of activities for Capital District visitors, to provide informational resources to residents, and to provide a showcase for business opportunities in Cohoes. The attraction, programs, and activities, from bike to water travel will attract many daily as well as overnight stays in Albany County.
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB) Foundation announced today the recipients of the Hospitality Grants, designed to support not-for-profit organizations located in Albany County. Awards will be presented at a press event on December 1.

The fund, which is managed by the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region (CFGCR),
supports programs that aid in building and sustaining Albany County tourism destinations, attractions, events, and other tourism-related activities. The grants encourage collaboration between nonprofit organizations, community groups, and hospitality businesses to further extend the economic impact of tourism and business.

“Tourism to our region ensures economic success, and these organizations understand what it takes to keep people coming back.” said Michele Vennard, President/CEO of the ACCVB, “It’s important to recognize these recipients who have all shown dedication to improving our hospitality culture and community.” 

The grants, ranging from $1,000 - $5,000, were approved by the ACCVB's Board of Directors and were funded through the earned income of the Bureau. This is the third time in two years that non-profit organizations within Albany County have been awarded grants from the Foundation.
 
ANNOUNCES GRANT RECIPIENTS PRESS RELEASE

The Cohoes Local Development Corporation is a 501 C 3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to focus on job creation and retention, economic development and housing opportunities within the City of Cohoes. The corporation is made up of five board members, all of which are non-compensated directors.

The CLDC is responsible for administering the Business Loan Program . The primary purpose of the Business Loan Program is to foster economic development in the City of Cohoes and focus on the expansion of local business. The CLDC in conjunction with the Business Loan Program will seek to further its mission through the provisions of low interest loans to businesses.
